Astier de Villatte - Opera Incense
Opéra incense by Astier de Villatte
“The splendour of the Palais Garnier. Ballet movements in the Great Hall: entrechats, pas de deux, ronds de jambes upon sumptuous parquet floors, polished with beeswax. Richly upholstered foyers reach to the very roof of the Opera, where thick streams of honey are collected from hives which spread forth giddying notes of Absolute Beeswax, rendered sublime by minute additions of Sandlewood and Styrax resin. ”
Each box contains 125 sticks, of a burning time of 30mn each.

Known for its kind climate, the city of Awaji, off the coast of Kobe, Japan, is where the best incenses of the planet are made. They’re handmade by the Koh-shi, or masters of perfume, according to a thousand year old tradition passed down from father to son.
Only them master perfectly the four steps of production: proportioning of the exclusively natural materials, precious woods, herbs and plants, vegetable resins, perfume. Kneading the dough, pressed and worked lengthily, then left to rest for two weeks to be fully soaked in perfume. Cutting this hand-rolled dough, shaped in long and thin ribbons, into the right size. Westerly wind drying for three days and finally, the sticks are bundled together.
Each box contains 125 30-minute sticks.
