Cire Trudon is the oldest and most prestigious wax-producer worldwide. And it’s French!
At the beginning, namely 1643, Claude Trudon who was then a merchant moves to Paris, rue Saint-Honoré. In his drugstore he particularly sells candles, altar and votive candles. As Louis XIVis crowned, Claude Trudon opens his first factory.
His heirs then join the Versailles royal court as apothecary and distiller of Queen Marie-Thérèse. Under the reign of Louis XV, Trudon supplies the French royal court and the most great churches, until the end of the monarchy. The Maison Trudon goes on to be Napoléon’s official during the time of the Empire, and even survives the arrival of electricity. It pursues candle-making and, later, scented candles.
